FREQUENTLY ASKED

Got questions?

This is your skin, and you want to know exactly what you're getting into. Here is everything clients ask before they book.

Before Your Visit

A consultation is a 45-minute conversation with Tricia and Chaz. They'll look at your skin, tell you honestly what will and won't work, show you real results from clients with similar scars, and — if it's a fit — build your treatment plan. If it's not, they'll tell you that too. They'll refund the consultation fee if you've driven more than 100 miles.

That's exactly what the consultation is for. Every scar, stretch mark, and skin concern is different. They'll recommend the right signature treatment based on your skin type, scar type, location, and goals. No guesswork — just precision.

No referral is needed. Many of their clients are referred by plastic surgeons and dermatologists, but you can book directly. If you've had recent surgery, they may ask you to wait until you're fully healed (typically 6-12 months post-op).

They typically book 2–3 weeks out. For popular time slots, they recommend booking as early as possible. You can also join the waitlist for cancellation openings.

During Treatment

Most clients describe it as mild discomfort — similar to a cat scratch or light sunburn sensation. They use topical numbing for sensitive areas. Many clients are surprised at how comfortable the process is.

Sessions range from 1–3 hours depending on the treatment and area size — sometimes more for larger or complex areas. Your first session includes additional time for color-matching and mapping. They never rush — precision takes time.

Yes. They've treated clients across the full Fitzpatrick scale (I-VI). Their color-matching process is custom for every individual — they mix pigments chairside to match your exact skin tone. This is one of their core specialties.

Paramedical tattooing uses medical-grade pigments, specialized needles, and techniques designed specifically for scar tissue and compromised skin. It's not cosmetic tattooing — it's corrective. Their training, tools, and approach are entirely different from a traditional tattoo studio.

After Treatment

Most treatments require 1–3 sessions, spaced 6–8 weeks apart — sometimes more depending on the area and skin response. The exact number depends on your scar type, skin tone, and treatment. They'll give you a clear estimate during your consultation — no surprises.

Expect mild redness and swelling for 2-3 days. The treated area will appear darker initially, then gradually settle to its final shade over 4-6 weeks. They provide detailed aftercare instructions and check in during your healing.

Results are long-lasting — typically 3–5 years, sometimes more, depending on the treatment, your skin, and sun exposure. Some clients come back for a touch-up every few years to maintain optimal results.

They stand behind their work. If you're not seeing the results they discussed, they'll work with you to adjust. That said, their consultation process is thorough specifically to set realistic expectations from day one.

Pricing & Logistics

Yes. Olive N Sage partners with Cherry for flexible payment plans. You can apply during your consultation or before booking. Most clients are approved in minutes with plans starting as low as $99/month.

Most insurance plans don't cover paramedical tattooing directly. However, some clients have successfully submitted claims for reimbursement, especially for post-surgical scar treatment. They can provide documentation to support your claim.

Olive N Sage is located at 105 Mt Rose St, Reno, NV 89509. It's a private, discreet studio — not a traditional tattoo shop. Street parking is available and easy to find.

They require 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows forfeit the consultation fee. They understand life happens — just give them a heads up and they'll work with you. Note: they refund the consultation fee for clients who've driven more than 100 miles.
